Aged beauty from our cellar. Selected by James Halliday for the Halliday cellaring selection. A very small amount of this wine has been cellaring in our air conditioned cellar. It comes from the outstanding 2011 vintage.
Winemaking
Hand-picked fruit was given a cold soak before a relatively cool fermentation and a gentle extraction regime. The wine was then transferred to barrel for 14 months. Hailing from the prodigious '11 vintage, this mid-weighted, engaging wine exhibits a whiff of aged complexity while holding plenty more cards up its sleeve.
Bitter chocolate and coffee grind tannins unravel notes of hoisin sauce, anise and old leather, mingling with the primary dark-fruit tones still clinging to their youth. 14% alc.
